CHRIS GRIFFITH - TEXTILE ARTIST
I currently live and work in Berkshire as a textile and mixed media artist. I work both individually and as part of an exhibiting group called Diversity. Although I have always been interested in crafts, and sewing in particular, I didn't pursue any formal training until my family were older when I decided to go to college and see where it would lead me. I studied for seven years at East Berkshire College in Windsor and now produce work to exhibit using the knowledge I gained and artistic techniques learned.
My work always has some stitch in it somewhere whether it is hand or machine worked and I use several techniques building up layers until I get the result I need. The materials I use range from cloth, paper, card, plastic, fibres, paint, dye and anything else I can find that will fit the purpose and enhance the finished piece. I don't work in any particular colourway it is purely led by what my inspiration is for a particular piece of work; anything from neutrals to bright vivid colours as shown in the work displayed in the gallery. My inspiration mainly comes from nature and what is around me. My aim is to keep producing work which I hope will give other people as much enjoyment as it does me in the making of it.
Any enquiries about my work please see details on my CONTACTS page.
